State of the Company – 2010

We have successfully entered a new decade in 2010. Well actually, we at Phoenix have entered two new decades.

The first new decade that we entered is shared by everyone, and is based on the calendar. This is the start of the second decade of the 21st Century.

The second new decade we have started here at Phoenix Renovation & Restoration, is the official second decade (plus one year) of our company being in business. Since opening our doors in May of 1999, we have experienced great progress towards the owner’s objective of becoming the best local insurance restoration company in the Kansas City regional area.

What started as the vision of our owners Mark and Pat in 1999 has continued to grow and evolve. Our individual and corporate desire to provide premium customer service to our Insurance Company partners, and to our restoration and renovation customers, ultimately creates an environment where ongoing company success can be achieved. The leading insurance companies continue to call upon us to provide premium restoration services to their policy holders.

As we focus our sights on the next ten years, we reflect on several internal changes that will continue to help us to be successful.

We have added internal support staff to assist our Associates (project managers) in their day-to-day activities. This assistance with their project estimating, project maintenance, and ultimately, job completion, frees the Associate’s time to perform the more important tasks of project planning, scheduling, and execution.

We have created Associate ‘Teams’. By structuring our project managers into teams, we have created the capacity to perform more restoration jobs concurrently, and perform them better and faster. We’ve all heard the adage, ’The whole is greater than the sum of the parts’; we’re proving that every day since we created the Associate teams. By calling on the strengths of each individual, we have made Phoenix a more proficient company.

We’re calling upon the use of technology to help us in every facet of our business. We don’t strive to buy the latest and greatest gadgets, but we do concentrate on those proven technologies that can assist us as tools to enhance our daily operations. Whether it is telephones that allow us to send quick messages to each other; or the new netbook and wireless internet technologies that allow the Associates to connect to the Phoenix back-end office servers in real-time, allowing them to create and modify project estimates in the field and on-the-fly: we invest in these technologies to make us to more efficient.

As we continue to be a small company, with less than 30 employees, we’re seeing strength in that number, allowing us to react more quickly to the changing scope of the industry, and to be more flexible when it comes to company structure. It’s always much easier to steer a small ship than a large one.

A significant success starting off the new decade is continued expansion of our business region. Our internal process changes in the last couple of years allowed us to increase our local service base into the Lawrence, Kansas area to the West, the St. Joseph, Missouri area to the North, and the Warrensburg / Knobnoster areas to the East. We are excited to announce that in December 2009 Phoenix Renovation & Restoration executed the startup of a new operating district at the Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.

Our research early in 2009 showed us that many of the insurance companies that we partner with did not have a strong restoration presence in the central Missouri lakes area. Although they each have a large policy-holder base there, there are only a small number of restoration companies that they can call on. Several of our insurance company contacts indicated they would be pleased to have our services in that area. We focused our attention on this need, and are proud to announce the startup of the ‘Central Missouri District’ of Phoenix Renovation & Restoration.

This new district is headed up by one of our Associates, Mark Broeker, who joined Phoenix in 2005. Mark has relocated to Sunrise Beach, Missouri, where he is the District Manager for Phoenix’s new Central Missouri District. Phoenix – Central Missouri is servicing the Lake of the Ozarks region and surrounding communities as a premier insurance general contractor and remodeler. While we close the door on our first 10 successful years in business, we are confident that we have focused our efforts on the right ‘stuff’ to enable us to continue to be a good insurance company partner, and a better restoration contractor.
